The Global Millennial Model United Nations (GM MUN) is returning in Yogyakarta on January 2–4, 2026, bringing together hundreds of passionate youth from around the world. More than just a conference, GM MUN is an opportunity for young leaders to experience diplomacy, strengthen essential life skills, and expand their international network.
If you are considering joining a Model United Nations program, here are the top five benefits of becoming part of GM MUN.
Boost Your Confidence
Public speaking is often a challenge for students, especially when it comes to delivering speeches in English. At GM MUN, participants are trained to speak confidently in front of an audience, debate important issues, and present arguments clearly. This confidence will carry over into both academic and professional settings.
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving
The world today is filled with complex global issues that require creative and effective solutions. GM MUN provides a platform for participants to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through research, debate, and negotiations, delegates learn to analyze situations from multiple perspectives and contribute meaningful solutions.
Global Networking
One of the most rewarding aspects of GM MUN is the opportunity to meet delegates from different countries and cultures. Building these international friendships can open doors to future collaborations, study opportunities abroad, and lifelong connections that go beyond the conference.
Leadership and Negotiation Skills
GM MUN is designed to prepare future leaders. Delegates practice leadership by guiding discussions, drafting resolutions, and negotiating agreements. These experiences help participants develop essential soft skills such as decision-making, teamwork, and conflict resolution—qualities highly valued in any career.
A Standout Achievement on Your CV
Participation in GM MUN is more than just an extracurricular activity. It is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates communication, leadership, and global awareness. Having GM MUN experience on your CV or university application can help you stand out when applying to top universities, scholarships, or competitive job opportunities.
