Find the International Event That Fits You Best

Many students want to join international events, yet many still struggle to find clear and reliable information. These international programs appear in many forms, ranging from leadership camps and innovation competitions to global workshops and cross-country volunteer projects. The participants become far more diverse than most people expect. They include not only high achievers but also students who seek new experiences, want to strengthen their CVs, or hope to explore a different environment.

When you participate in international events, you will gain prestigious academic certificates, expand your global network, and develop essential soft skills. International events run throughout the year; the starting dates vary depending on the organizer. To begin your search, you first need to understand the types of international events available. Once you do, it becomes much easier to find one that matches your interests and explore the details confidently.

Here are several types of international events you can join.

Short Courses / Summer Courses
These short academic programs last 1–8 weeks and focus on topics such as leadership, diplomacy, technology, or sustainability.

International Volunteering
Global volunteer programs place participants in social, educational, environmental, health, or community empowerment projects.

Workshops and Bootcamps
These intensive 1–7 day training sessions focus on technology, research, public speaking, innovation, sustainability, or diplomacy.

Competitions and Conferences
These events gather participants from various countries and challenge them to apply critical thinking, communication, research, innovation, and problem-solving skills.

After seeing the variety of opportunities available, it’s understandable if you’re not sure where to begin. With so many choices, some people prefer to take time before deciding. In this situation, starting with a program that offers all-around benefits can be an ideal option. A program that provides global exposure, critical-thinking practice, public-speaking training, achievement opportunities, and a supportive environment for beginners usually offers a clear and manageable entry point.

Events in the competition and conference category usually provide all of these benefits at once. Moreover, they are easier to find because many of them run annually. One example is the Global Millennial Model United Nations (GM MUN). In 2025, GM MUN Jakarta welcomed 350 delegates from 10 countries. In 2026, the conference will be held in Jakarta on 12-14 June at the Mercure Convention Center Ancol. Registration opens from 1–31 December 2025. If you want an international event that is beginner-friendly, offers complete benefits, and takes place soon, GM MUN 2026 is an excellent place to start.
