Awardee Story: How an Elementary School Student Achieved Success in Model United Nations

Achievements in Model United Nations competitions often feel closely associated with middle school, high school, or even university students. This story proves otherwise. A fifth-grade student from SDI Al Azhar 20 Cibubur gained attention after earning two awards in an international-style MUN forum.

The student is Kirana Andisa Noureen, who won Best Position Paper and Diplomatic Commendation in the competition she joined. Her achievement shows that critical thinking, teamwork, and self-confidence can develop from an early age when the learning process is structured and supportive.

What Sparked Her Interest in Model United Nations

Kirana’s interest in Model United Nations started from a simple yet forward-looking motivation. She viewed MUN as a space to meet new people and understand different perspectives.

“I can get connections and other POV!”

For students her age, the ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and build cross-background connections plays a key role in character development, not only in competitions but also in everyday learning.

Competition Experience

When asked about her most memorable experience during the competition, Kirana did not focus on trophies or titles. Instead, she highlighted the process she shared with other participants.

“Teamwork with other delegates.”

This experience confirms that MUN goes beyond debate. It trains collaboration, communication skills, and empathy, even for elementary school participants.

The Role of Globy in Her Learning Journey

During her preparation and competition journey, support from Globy played an important role. The guidance went beyond technical preparation and focused strongly on mindset and confidence.

According to Kirana, a supportive approach and encouragement to believe in herself made a meaningful difference.

“Supportive, and makes believing yourself.”

This type of mentoring matters greatly for young participants who enter an international-style forum for the first time.

Receiving the Awards

When her name was announced as an award recipient, Kirana felt happy and grateful. However, she did not see the awards as a purely personal achievement.

“I was glad that I can get at least an award, and the main point is the help for other friends/del.”

Her response reflects the true value of diplomacy. Achievements grow through contribution and cooperation with fellow delegates.

Learning Beyond Age Limits

The story of Kirana Andisa Noureen shows that Model United Nations can serve as a meaningful learning platform even for elementary school students. With proper mentoring, a supportive environment, and confidence-building methods, young learners can grow beyond age-based expectations.

For students and parents who wish to start a similar journey, Global Millennial Model United Nations (GM MUN) Jakarta 2026 offers a relevant opportunity. The conference will take place on 12-14 June 2026 at Mercure Convention Center Ancol, Jakarta, featuring age-based councils and structured guidance for both beginners and experienced participants. If Kirana can begin and achieve success as a fifth grader, similar opportunities remain open for many young learners.
